2. Retention of The Irish Film Board, development agency of the Irish film industry.
3. Maintenance of existing levels of funding to the Arts Council.

ASNI News

July 1st, 2009

This is the new ASNI news page, for updates on all ASNI related business. Since the last general meeting of Artists Studio Network Ireland (ASNI) at the Irish Museum of Modern Art on 10th February 2007, a number of important objectives been achieved by the regional representatives and a significant role is developing for ASNI and the artists studio workspace sector.  The regional representatives in Limerick will host the next general meeting of ASNI at Limerick Printmakers Studio and Gallery on Friday 11th September from 1.30pm to 4pm  It is important that members attend this meeting for a progress report on what has been happening with ASNI and also, to agree the next steps for the future. In view of the recent recommendations by the McCarthy report to significantly reduce funding for the arts, the meeting also offers an opportunity to address these recent developments and encourage the studio sector to participate in the national campaign to lobby government for the future survival of the Arts & Culture sector in Ireland. For further information please visit the links below. Facebook groups and some blog sites have been set up in every county in Ireland to coordinate everyone working in the arts to participate in this national campaign.

ASNI has the ability to play a leading role in improving the condition and provision of artists’ studios in Ireland and also, the potential to contribute significantly at national level the case for continued support for the visual arts in Ireland.

As suggested at the last General Meeting, there will be a local event to coincide with the ASNI meeting on the previous night, as Limerick Printmakers will mark their 10th Anniversary with an exhibition opening on Thursday September 10th for anyone that would like to attend. In the meantime, if you have any questions or require further information or agenda for the Limerick meeting, please email to: contact@asni.info
